My Short Story
A Football Dream

Jose Cortez lives in Los Angeles the eastern part of Los
Angeles. He is a fantastic football player and he is the number one recruit in
high school and in the whole nation. All of the college football teams want him
to play for them. Jose is entering his senior year as a starting quarter back
for his school. All of the scouts are watching him so he seriously has to play
really good. On Saturday he plays his first game against a really tough team no
big deal for him though. The last two years he has took his team to the state
championship twice and both games were blowouts and Jose’s dream is to become
legend in the NFL.
Jose has a really hard life because he doesn’t have any
parents. His dad was shot on a drive by and his mom overdosed on heroin. So
Jose lives with his lovely grandparents that are very proud of Jose on how he
responded on how his life was going. It was hard for Jose growing up in L.A.
because a lot of people get shot for no good reason and you could get randomly
get robbed. He was 17 going on 18 which is a hard age without any parents. Even
when the road got rough along he still kept his head up and stayed in school
and kept his grades up. There is one thing why people don’t like Jose because
he is Mexican and he goes to a white school. So none of the white people like
Jose but Jose did not care about what people think of him.
So he and his team go undefeated and Jose leads his football
team into the California football state championship and no surprise they win
42 to 0. Jose is a 3 time high school state football state champion. Then the
hardest decision has to be made by him which college is he going to go to. Jose
has committed to Texas a and m aggies to play football. Jose is on his way to
Texas from California so he has to kiss his grandpa and grandma goodbye. In his
mind he is going into a new life. So he finally shows up in Texas. Jose has
practice the first day next week as he gets settled into the college
atmosphere. So practice has come and Jose is nervous the first day of practice.
He gets to choose a jersey number and he chooses number 7. Everyone is giving
him a dirty glare because he is Mexican. In practice Jose shows off his speed
and arm and proves coach that he could be a starter.
So on Saturday he has his first game against Michigan.
During the game the game the starting QB gets injured and Jose has to step up.
As the game went along Jose threw 4 touchdowns and rushed for one too in a 35
to 7 win over the wolverines. So coach put Jose as the new starter and through
the season they only lose to Alabama 21 to 28 that was there only loss. The
aggies are ranked number 2 in the land. Ohio State is ranked number 1 with a
11-0 record. So Jose takes the team to the S.E.C. championship against Georgia
and they win 45 to 34 what a game for Jose Cortez. So through college he and
the team go undefeated and win the national title game every time.
Now the biggest day of his life is about to happen the NFL
draft. He is the number 1 overall draft pick and gets drafted to the Washington
redskins. He is so excited about it his grandparents went nuts. So Jose moves to the nation’s capital. He
gets enough money for his grandparents to move out of that crappy neighborhood
in east Los Angeles to Washington DC. So for Jose the NFL is going way better
than college because players on his team respect him and are really nice to
him. So he pays his very first game against the Tennessee titans. THE REDSKINS
WIN 20 TO 0. Jose’s first game was a shutout.
2 games later he wins one and loses one. Now he is 2 and 1
and from that point on the redskins just keep winning with a 15 and 1 record
going into the playoffs as the number 1 seed and a first round bye. So next
they play the packers and they beat the packers 21 to 7. Their next game is
against the Seahawks and Jose and the redskins lose 27 to 26. The redskin’s
fans were devastated.
5 years later Jose is still paying for the redskins and they
keep on losing in the playoffs against the Seahawks. The next year Jose breaks
his ankle and is out for the whole season and the redskins don’t even make the
playoffs for the first time in 5 years. The year after the redskin’s season
opener is against the Seahawks and Jose is injured again this time he breaks
his other leg and is out for the season again but luckily the backup QB takes
the redskins to the wildcard as the number 6 seed.
The next year Jose goes berserk in football with a 16-0
record in the NFL the third and only team to do that. The redskins blow their
way through the playoffs and go to the super bowl against the Denver broncos.
Jose passes for 365 yards and 3 touchdown passes in a 24 to 14 win over the
broncos. Jose’s grandparents were really happy. He was the game mvp and player
of the game. The next year they blow their way through the playoffs again and
make it to the super bowl this time it’s against the chiefs. Guess what the
redskins make a repeat in 49 to 17 win. Jose broke the record for most passing
yards in a game with 600 yards in a game. Then year after year they make the
playoffs but don’t make it to the super bowl. Over the years Jose kept on
getting older and older he was 37 years old and he was thinking about retiring
but he thought about playing one more season.
The next season a 38-year-old Quarterback will play his last
season in the NFL. Jose plays all the way through the season without getting
injured and without throwing an interception and takes the redskins to a 11-5
record and clinches the NFC east. They are a wildcard team but that won’t stop
the redskins from going as hard as they can in the postseason. So the redskins
play the New York giants in the wildcard round and the redskins will win 18 to
7. Jose threw for a touchdown and threw for 209 yards. The redskin’s next game
was against the defending champs the Carolina panthers and the redskins win 22
to 21 on a 2-point conversion to win the game. Then the redskins would go on to
beat the falcons in the NFC championship. In the super bowl it would be the redskin’s
vs the Miami dolphins. Jose would go on and have a spectacular game by going
and passing for 551 yards and 5 touchdowns and rushing for 2 touchdowns in 49
to 31 win in the super bowl. Jose’s last game the super bowl and he won 3 super
bowls out of 3 super bowls.
Jose chooses to retire at the age of 39 years old. Jose goes
to the press conference and without crying he announces his retirement speech.
Now Jose would go on to be a great dad and a great husband to his wife and kids
and gives his kids the life that he’s never had. Jose’s football career is
priceless. He would soon be inducted into the NFL hall of fame as a quarterback
with a total of 64,877 passing yards and 454 passing touchdowns
